Srinagar, Aug 22 Pakistan resorted to yet another cease fire violation across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, two days after an Indian soldier was killed in heavy shelling from across the border. Nocasualties have been reported.
The ceasefire violation was reported from the Sunderbani sector in Rajouri district at around 8.45 p.m.
"Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation in Sunderbani sector, District Rajouri (J&K). Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," the Army said in a statement.
No casualties or injuries had been reported from theshelling that took place on Thursday.
On Monday, a soldier was killed while four others wereinjured as Pakistan violated the ceasefire in the Krishna Ghati sector.
The Indian soldier killed in the Pakistani firing wasidentified as Naik Ravi Ranjan Singh, 36, who belonged to Bihar. Ceasefireviolations across the LoC have increased after a lull in the first two weeks ofAugust during which period, extra paramilitary forces were deputed to Jammu andKashmir in the build up to abrogation of special category status to the state.
Ceasefire violations by Pakistan had peaked to the maximumin the month of July which recorded the highest number for any month duringthis calendar year.
